all about children's sensitive skin

Having a child with excessively sensitive skin can bring a lot of challenges into your life. You have to watch what products come into the home because it can cause your child to get a rash. Ever since my daughter was born, I have had to be very cautious about the laundry detergents that I used in her clothes as well as my own. When people held her, I had to wrap her in a blanket to prevent perfume and their laundry detergent from causing her to break out in a rash. A dermatologist has helped us find several products that have helped over the years. Find out about sensitive skin here on my blog.

2 Tips To Help Reduce Swelling After A Laser Resurfacing Procedure

While it is often not healthy to solely focus on your outer appearance, something as noticeable as acne scars can work a number on your self-esteem. Mild or moderate acne may leave some scarring, but these scars often fade fairly quickly. If you struggle with severe acne, then you may suffer from deeper scars that are much more noticeable and difficult to get rid of. It can be difficult to feel confident in your own skin on a daily basis if you are dealing with these issues. As a result, laser skin resurfacing is often used to remove layers of old skin that are riddled with scars and marks. This reveals new, smooth and youthful looking skin. After the procedure is complete, you will notice swelling. The swelling will take some time to decrease; therefore, there are a few tips that you can use to speed up the process.

Keep Your Skin Cold

When your body is exposed to cold temperatures, your blood flow begins to slow down. This results in a slight numbing sensation and helps to reduce swelling as well as the feeling of pain. You can use this technique to keep the areas where your laser resurface treatment was applied cold. Blend a few crushed ice cubes with a cup of cold water. Pour the mixture in a bowl and dip a clean towel in the bowl. Wring the towel and apply a handful of ice blocks to the towel. Gently press the towel into your skin until it cools down. Use this cold application throughout the day. You should notice a reduction in swelling by the end of the first day.

Spray Your Face with Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera is frequently used in beauty products because it rejuvenates the skin. The herb also contains anti-inflammatory properties that can be used to control swelling after your acne treatment. Add half a cup of aloe vera juice to a small spray bottle, then fill the rest of the bottle with cold water. Spray your face with the aloe vera juice mixture several times throughout the day in order to help calm your swelling. You should be able to detect a difference in your swelling by the following day.

A laser resurfacing procedure can help to reverse all of the damage acne has caused. However, the swelling will often make the recovery process uncomfortable. Therefore, use these tips to help reduce your swelling. Contact a clinic like Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Specialists of Moreno Valley for more information.
